Successful field test in Norway

October 19, 2017

The Intelligent Coring System (ICS) was recently tested in a shallow well at Xrig, Ålgård Technology Park, Norway. Coring cement in a pre-drilled wellbore - a challenging environment for coring despite the shallow depth - the system provided 100% core recovery in three out of four runs, all the while delivering gamma ray and resistivity data to surface in real time with 100% data decoding.

In addition to formation and fluid logging data, a novel measurement of inner barrel relative rotation was transmitted. These data proved very valuable in the diagnostics of downhole conditions and coring efficiency, allowing earlier and more precise adjustment of operational parameters.
